I've learned the hard way that replacing an OEM part that is failing or due for maintenance with an aftermarket part can come back to bite you in the ass. I got the in the bad habit of "upgrading" items for the sake of upgrading - even if it didn't make sense at the time or with my current configuration (Stand-alone EMS on a mostly stock car, aftermarket FPR, BOVs, etc etc). I recently spent a bunch of money to revert a lot of items back to stock and have someone who knows what they are doing do all of the work.
